There's no fighting it -- Glee is sweeping the nation. It's cooler than a grape slushie on your face. It's attracting viewers of all ages, all genders, and all musical preferences. Even my mom watches it! It's got something for everyone -- it's funny, it's touching, it's full of talented singers, and it gives a powerful voice to the geekiest among us. It's a force to be reckoned with, and the cast has recently recorded a Glee Christmas CD that will certainly top the charts in the coming weeks.

As the holiday season approaches and you begin shopping for presents, remember the Gleeks in your life and consider enabling their addictions by giving them Glee Christmas gifts that fans everywhere will include on their lists for Santa this year. The best thing about Glee is the music. Put simply, the Glee kids can sing, and they're bringing a crazy variety of styles of music to a new generation of listeners. They're making Broadway popular, they're breathing new life into music from the 80s and 90s, and they're taking today's hits and giving them a new level of mass appeal. And now, in time for the holidays, they're putting their own spin on Christmas favorites with the new Glee Christmas CD. Any of the Glee CDs, many of which are linked below, would make a perfect Christmas gift for the Gleeks in your family.

So far, there are five volumes in the line of Glee soundtrack CDs, each one featuring music from the show. There are also specialty collections from certain themed episodes, like a "Rocky Horror Picture Show" CD and one called "The Power of Madonna." For someone just beginning their own collection of Glee music, I'd recommend starting with Volume 1 and going from there. For a Gleek who already has the main discs, look for one of the specialty collections to give them something new.  Amazon also offers the option of downloading mp3 versions of the songs directly from their site, which you can navigate to by clicking any of the links below.

The music is at the heart of Glee, but true fans will want to own the DVDs and have the option of watching their favorite episodes anytime, anywhere. Some of the top Glee DVD sets are linked below. "The Complete First Season" is a great place to start, and the gift set version adds an exclusive Glee journal to the set of DVDs.  Season 2 is available as well.  There are also cheaper sets from Season 1, breaking the season down into two parts, and Amazon has a director's cut of the Glee pilot (one of the best episodes ever!) for sale as well. Calendars are big holiday gifts in my family -- for walls and for desks. There's a great Glee wall calendar for 2011, and any true Gleek wouldn't dream of having any other calendar on their wall for the coming year. It's available from various sellers on Amazon.com.

Glee has spawned at least two novels based on its characters, as well as several "unofficial" guides and companions containing information about the show and its characters. Any of these books, a couple of which are linked below, would be quickly devoured by kids who love Glee. If you know someone who wants to sing like the members of the Glee cast, you can get them their very own Glee karaoke system, with a Glee karaoke CD. Or, if they already have a Nintendo Wii, get them the Glee Karaoke Revolution game. With these great gifts, your favorite Gleek can start their own version of New Directions right in their living room!  For Gleeks with iPhones, iTunes has a Glee karaoke app (for $.99) that allows fans to record themselves singing, autotune their voice to improve the sound and add back-up voices, or sing along with other fans from all over the world.  Definitely worth checking out!

Many of Glee's cast members had musical successful before Glee -- on Broadway or otherwise -- or are turning their Glee-inspired popularity into an opportunity to make their own solo albums now. For the devoted Glee fan who seems to already have all things Glee, these more obscure CDs would make great Christmas gifts.

Below are links to some of my favorites: a solo CD by Mark Salling (aka Puck), a Christmas CD by Kristen Chenoweth (who guest-starred as a tipsy, aging Glee club member from Will's high school days), a fantastic solo CD by Idina Menzel (who briefly appeared as the coach of Vocal Adrenaline and Rachel's mom), and the soundtrack from the Broadway show "Spring Awakening" (which features Rachel and her short-lived boyfriend Jesse St. James). Note that the Spring Awakening soundtrack has a couple songs with profanity in them, so it might not be appropriate for younger Gleeks. Also, Kristen Chenoweth has several other solo CDs, all great, and she & Idina Menzel can both be heard on the soundtrack from "Wicked," a personal favorite of mine!

Although there's no official line of Glee clothing (yet), there are plenty of glee club themed shirts that would make great gifts for Gleeks of all shapes, sizes and genders. I found an example on Amazon and linked to it to the right.  That design is available for men and women, in long sleeves and short sleeves.  Good for Gleeks, as well as glee club members of all ages!

If you're shopping for a kid who loves Glee, consider getting them Glee posters to help them deck out their bedrooms and let their Gleek flags fly.
